Details →Lakeside is the most rural of our core areas and the fencing reflects it. Parcels are bigger, lot lines run longer, and a fair share of properties keep animals — which means chain link perimeters, wide drive gates, and corrals matter more here than decorative front-yard picket. Lakeside also has genuine topography and sits substantially inside high fire hazard territory, both of which shape what we recommend.
Long runs on uneven ground are the norm, so racking and stepping the fence to grade is routine rather than exceptional. Rocky and decomposed granite soil makes post holes harder work than a flat tract lot in Santee. Much of Lakeside is designated Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, so the ember-resistant Zone Zero rules around structures are a live consideration, not a hypothetical one.

Yes. Long perimeter runs, chain link, and wide drive gates are common Lakeside work. Because pricing depends heavily on total footage, terrain, and access for equipment, these need to be walked in person before we quote.
Either the fence is racked so panels follow the slope continuously, or it is stepped down in level sections with the gaps managed at the bottom. Which one we use depends on the material and how sharp the grade is. Block retaining walls with fence on top are another option where the drop is severe.
It can. California's AB 3074 ember-resistant zone rules require the first five feet around a structure to be non-combustible, with compliance required by February 2027. Much of Lakeside is in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, so wood fence attached to or abutting the house may need to be swapped for iron, masonry, or galvanized material.
