Is it cheaper to repair or replace my fence?
It depends on how much of the structure is still sound. If posts are solid and only boards or a panel or two have failed, repair is clearly the better value. If posts are rotted at grade along the whole run, repair becomes patching a fence that will keep failing. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
Can you fix a fence that blew over in the wind?
Usually yes. Wind damage often means posts snapped at grade or panels tore loose while the rest of the fence is intact. We reset or replace the affected posts and rebuild the damaged sections rather than replacing everything.
How often does a wood fence need re-staining?
It depends on exposure, the product used, and how much direct sun the fence takes. A south- or west-facing run inland weathers faster than a shaded north side. What does weatherproofing a fence actually involve?
Cleaning and preparing the surface, then applying a stain or paint system that penetrates or seals the wood so UV, rain, and salt air cannot break down the fibers. Preparation is the part that determines whether the finish lasts, which is why it is worth having someone who does only this work perform it.
